Students Complete Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award in Norway's Rugged Terrain

From 12th - 19th July, 23 students embarked on an unforgettable journey to complete their Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award. The group began their adventure in Bergen, where they boarded a train to Finse, a remote area known for its stunning, untouched landscapes. The students set up camp in tents and spent the next day acclimatising to the terrain, learning how to safely cross snow-covered areas.

Their expedition up the mountains proved challenging, with treacherous, rainy conditions and poor visibility adding to the intensity of the experience. Despite the harsh weather, the students persevered, demonstrating resilience and teamwork. Upon completing their hike, they enjoyed a well-earned meal after returning to Bergen.

On the final day, the group had the opportunity to explore the vibrant city of Bergen, taking in its rich culture and history. In addition to the Norway expedition, congratulations are extended to other students who completed their Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award in the Peak District and through a sailing expedition.

Special thanks go to Mrs. Kirby, whose dedicated organisation made the trip possible. The adventure marks a major milestone for these students, symbolising their hard work, determination, and achievement.
